Health, among others

Yesterday was one of the most awaited days of the month. It was pay day! :) Anyway, I went to SM to buy a pair of sandals because I had to go to church and I didn't have anything to wear. I was able to buy my second choice because the one that I really like doesn't have a 9.5 size, the smallest they have is a 10. This was just in SM Department Store, brand is Parisian. I like the sandals because they're comfortable to wear, especially now that I have callous on my feet that really really hurt. Thinking about it now, I haven't had a footspa for the entire year! So that's probably why, aside from the fact that the previous sandals I had are totally lame! Sayang yung pera ko talaga. Recently, I even had to buy a Dr. Scholl's pad to relieve the pain and prevent friction between my small toe fingers and my shoes. So far, I don't feel 80% of the pain any longer.

Another reason why I went to SM yesterday was to look for some medicines. Last Wednesday, before I went home, I went to my doctor in Metropolitan Medical Center to check the results of my blood test and urinalysis last Monday. Unfortunately for the longest time, I still have UTI. But at least it's just a slight infection now compared to how it used to be. Dr. Robert Michael Gan, my doctor, the brother of the renowned dentist to the stars, Dr. Steve Mark Gan, (but overly handsome than him...hehehe... I just can't find a picture of him over the net, he likes to maintain a low profile), didn't give me any medicines for my UTI any longer because we've been treating it since July! I've had more than my fair share of antibiotics already so he wants to put a stop to it now, and advised me to just drink plenty of water and buko juice. As for my blood test, there's good news. My total cholesterol is now within the normal range. HDL and LDL are normal but the ratio between the two is still high so I still have to work and make my "good" cholesterol go up a notch. I've been taking cholesterol-lowering meds for the past month that's why it's now back to normal but without it I know the result of the test will go haywire.

The only problem I have with the medicines he prescribed is they're synthetic. Of course, right? My liver, it already started to scream for help. I'm taking vitamins for the liver, too, prescribed by Dr. Gan, as well, but it, too, is synthetic. This is the reason why I checked at Healthy Options yesterday to see what products they have to offer for the liver (silymarin), and cholesterol-lowering meds. I bought the Milk Thistle (silymarin) but not the CoQ10 and Garlic meds for cholesterol because they're still way beyond my budget. Since I still have Fenofibrate, I'll first continue to take it, anyway the doctor reduced the frequency of my drinking from 1 cap/day to 1 cap from Mon-Fri.

Another medicine I bought at Healthy Options is Gingko Biloba. Why? Because I need something for my brain. I feel that my braincells are slowly, one by one, dying. That's why I easily lose focus these days especially when I am already tired. Sometimes, it takes me around 2-3 minutes before I can absorb and comprehend what a person is telling me. Sometimes, it's taking me a couple of minutes, too, for me to be able to get to the point of what I'm saying. I was never like this before. Before, I was always sharp. Someone even praised my quick thinking. Another one said "There are people who talk and talk but they don't know what they're talking about because their minds can't cope up with their mouths. There are people who think and think but don't know how to say what's in their minds. And then there are those people whose mouths and minds are at the same pace, they can speak their minds clearly and make sense of what they're saying. And you're one of them." I was humbled by that comment, especially because the person who said that is a real public speaker and an old, wise man. But look at me now. My brother said I'm already showing signs of aging. I say, Alzheimer's at the age of 30??? So I'll give Gingko Biloba a shot. The saleslady said it will take about a month or two before I notice the result. "I'm willing to wait, don't worry", I told her.

What else can I do? I want to go jogging or do exercises because my mind might already be lacking oxygen. I read in Reader's Digest that we should exercise to boost our minds. But aside from that, what else do you think can make me boost mine?
